Standard Issue Military Earplugs Were Known To Be Defective

From 2003-2015, 3M sold and distributed earplugs to thousands of service members deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Although 3M company claims no wrongdoing, it has agreed to pay $9.1 million to settle allegations that it knew the earplugs were defective with the Department of Justice.

This money will not go to veterans and soldiers, however. Military service personnel who used these earplugs must file a civil lawsuit to be compensated for their injuries.

We can help.

What Was The Defect?

For over 12 years, the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency unknowingly distributed millions of dollars' worth of defective Combat ArmsTM CAEv2 Earplugs, Version 2 to soldiers. The now discontinued, dual-ended 3M earplugs were designed to be used on one end as traditional earplugs or flipped around to use the other end for more hearing protection from explosions and gunfire. Claims state that the earplugs could gradually loosen in some user's ears, putting service people at risk for hearing loss. What's worse is that 3M and its predecessor, Aaero Technologies, allegedly knew of design defect as early as 2000.
